Story

My little brother Steven and I are joining in The Daisy Chain walk to join the fight against Meningitis. The Daisy Chain 2013 is a 345 mile walk which has been organised by the family of Daisy Jean Metcalfe who died tragically of Meningitis in January this year, aged only 15. The walk, which will take place in August, will be split into 14 stages beginning at the Wirral and ending in Aberdeen. To show our support to Daisy's family, and in memory of our cousin Gregor, my littlle brother Steven and I have decided to join in a stage of The Daisy Chain. In February of this year our family's lives were changed forever when we were devastated by the sudden loss of Gregor who was only 13 when this cruel disease took him. Gregor was a happy and healthy teenager who woke up one Sunday morning feeling unwell and within hours this disease had taken his life. We want to help raise funds and awareness of this horrific disease to prevent other families going through the devastation that my family, and Daisy's family have faced. Meningitis UK are such an important charity as, not only are they fighting to prevent this disease, they also support those the families whose lives have been devastated by it. Steven and I will be joining The Daisy Chain on Stage 10 of their walk from Hopeview to Windygates. It is a 22 mile walk and will be a huge challenge for us both! Our walk takes place on August 26th and we are looking forward to joining the fight against Meningitis, for Daisy and for Gregor. We would be extremely grateful for any donations to support us! All our love and thanks for your support, Mhairi and Steven x
